March 2, 2007 -- Redlands, California—A free Web seminar in March will demonstrate how ESRI's Production Line Tool Set (PLTS) for ArcGIS streamlines the process of preparing and managing large volumes of data in ArcGIS, helping reduce costs, increase quality control, and create maps quickly and easily.
Introduction to PLTS for ArcGIS 9.2 will air on the Training and Education Web site at www.esri.com/lts on March 15, 2007, at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 3:00 p.m. (Pacific standard time).
PLTS for ArcGIS is a collection of software applications designed to extend ESRI's ArcGIS suite of products for high-volume data and cartographic production, maintenance, and quality control. Many commercial and government mapping organizations use the solution when producing products such as atlases; charts; map books; or topographic, aeronautical, nautical, forestry, census, and parcel maps.
Users can customize PLTS for ArcGIS for their particular products or use predeveloped solutions for standard topographic, nautical, and aeronautical charts required by defense, intelligence, and mapping agencies.
The software provides users with a single-click editing environment, menu-driven data entry tools, on-the-fly data validation, and a suite of tools designed for quality control. For cartographic production, PLTS for ArcGIS offers map series creation and management tools, on-the-fly custom symbology, map grid creation tools, and the ability to work with dynamic text and tables in a layout.
PLTS for ArcGIS also comes with a workflow management application called Job Tracking for ArcGIS (JTX) that manages GIS projects.
The seminar's presenter will discuss
- The components of PLTS for ArcGIS and its editing, quality control, and cartographic tools
- How to streamline the editing environment
- How to use GIS Data ReViewer, a quality control management application in PLTS for ArcGIS
- How to use the Map Production System-Atlas, which provides time-saving tools for producing high-quality and high-volume maps, grids, map books, and atlases
A broadband Internet connection and an ESRI global account are needed to watch the seminar. Creating a global account is easy and free. It only takes a few minutes to set up by visiting www.esri.com/lts, clicking Login, and registering your name and address.
A few weeks after the live presentation, the seminar will be archived on the ESRI Training and Education Web site at www.esri.com/ts.
