Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region PAD Program Subscribes to Atrus' AED Link System

PORTLAND, Ore.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—April 5, 2007— Atrus, Inc., today announced that the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) Program has subscribed to the AED Link(TM) system. Atrus develops emergency response technologies targeted at expanding the reach of 9-1-1 dispatchers to enable faster lifesaving automated external defibrillator (AED) response within the community. The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region is the largest health care delivery system in southern Saskatchewan, Canada, and one of the most integrated health delivery agencies in the country.

"We are pleased to provide AED Link to expand the coverage area and utilization rates of publicly available AEDs in the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region and to help save the lives of sudden cardiac arrest victims," said Richard A. Lazar, president and chief executive officer of Atrus. "Knowing AED location information enables 9-1-1 dispatchers to help increase the number of times AEDs are used from an estimated 0.5% to nearly 20% -- a 3,500% increase. This difference is remarkable, and this lifesaving public safety benefit can be achieved without adding any new AEDs. The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region is truly at the forefront of community-based AED response programs."

"We are dedicated to helping save lives in our community through public access defibrillation," said Dale Backlin, PAD Coordinator, Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. "We work closely with local organizations and businesses in locations that have been identified as being at high risk of having someone experience sudden cardiac arrest. With our use of the AED Link system and access to the Atrus National AED Registry, we are continuing to provide best-in-class public safety services to our community."

The Atrus AED Link system helps 9-1-1 dispatch agencies substantially and cost effectively increase the benefits of existing publicly placed AEDs deployed within communities. It offers mission-critical AED location data to 9-1-1 dispatchers via a regularly updated geographic information system (GIS) map layer. This layer enables dispatchers to see the location of registered AEDs at and nearby sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) victims, and to share this information with callers. It helps those on-scene get these lifesaving devices to SCA victims faster, thereby increasing the chances that lives will be saved. Atrus' National AED Registry(TM) (www.NationalAEDRegistry.com), a robust data repository containing information about the presence and location of registered publicly accessible AEDs, provides the information required to generate and transmit up-to-date AED Link GIS map layers to 9-1-1 dispatchers.
