Phoenix, Arizona selects Smart Data Strategies to upgrade and improve maintenance of land parcel information

June 27, 2007 -- Smart Data Strategies, Inc. (SDS) announces today that the City of Phoenix awarded the contract to Smart Data Strategies along with partner Engineering Mapping Solutions (EMS) to implement the Land Data Migration project. The final outcome of the project will be to provide professional services to upgrade and improve the way the City maintains land parcel information. Included is the migration of GIS data sets from a tiled environment using ArcInfo coverage to a relational database (Oracle) that implements a new enterprise parcel data model. These upgrades recognizes and incorporates mulit-departmental requirements as well as a parcel maintenance solution to wrap around the revised and improved workflows, to establish more efficient, effective and timely land parcel updates. Providing this solution Smart Data Strategies ensures the City of Phoenix a state of the art technological solution capable of supporting the City’s land parcel information needs and fits with the City’s enterprise business application strategy.

The Smart Data Strategies team will document the current and future land parcel data requirements then review current land parcel maintenance workflows to provide recommendations for improved business processes. After this stage is completed Smart Data Strategies will deliver a land parcel data model and data maintenance software to support the documented requirements. Once the new parcel model is in place, Smart Data Strategies will migrate the parcel coverages into the new parcel data model, install DREAMaps Mapper™, and train city staff in its use.

Smart Data Strategies DREAMaps Mapper,a customized – and customizable – extension to ESRI’s ArcGIS, will consolidate the City’s primary tasks of land parcel mapping into a collection of intuitive workflows that help to automate common functions within ESRI's ArcMap environment while working with the Geodatabase. The software is a Commercial-Off-Shelf solution (COTS) solution to land parcel mapping requirements that enables an affordable and easy to implement solution.
