Dassault Systemes announced the appointment of Jeff Ray as CEO of SolidWorks. Previously chief operating officer, Ray who joined the company in 2003 is replacing John McEleney. His four years at SolidWorks extend his nearly 30-year record of building and transforming operations in international businesses. Cobra Golf Reduces Cost Using BUNKSPEED
BUNKSPEED announced that Cobra Golf was able to save tens of thousands of dollars associated in the development of its latest putter line, as well as in the development of one of its iron products. The savings are attributed to Cobra Golf’s deployment of BUNKSPEED’s software, UDRIVE and HyperShot, as integral parts of the company’s product development process. Cobra Golf chose BUNKSPEED because it was looking for ways to improve its current product development process and gain greater confidence in its digital design data. BUNKSPEED’s ability to turn any 3D content into photorealistic images allowed Cobra Golf to visualize many concepts in real time, in a variety of environments and simulated natural and studio light conditions. Cobra Golf is one of BUNKSPEED’s first customers outside of the automotive design market, and penetrating into the product design and consumer goods market is a major focal point for BUNKSPEED.

Anark Corporation Releases New CAD Transformation System

Anark Corp. announced the launch of the Anark Core Platform, software for the rapid transformation and distribution of use-appropriate CAD data throughout the enterprise supply chain and support organizations. Unlike traditional CAD authoring tools and translation products, Core’s automation system empowers users with an efficient, repeatable process for transforming and delivering IP-protected CAD geometry. This is performed through Core’s ‘recipe’ based transformation process that allows users to reapply a set of user-defined transformation operations, thereby eliminating the need to manually rework product data as it evolves or as requirements change. Anark Core Platform consists of two main components that can be configured to match organizational needs. Anark Core Workstation is an authoring tool that allows users to produce transformed, use-appropriate CAD geometry for supply chain and support applications throughout an enterprise. Anark Core Server is a scalable server system for high-volume, repeated applications that allows manufacturers to automate the transformation and delivery of use-appropriate CAD geometry throughout organizations.

Agile PLM Accelerates Product Development

Medela AG, Baar/Swiss, has deployed Agile PLM from Agile Software Corp. to optimize its product development processes and speed up the development of new and innovative products. With the Agile PLM software, the international manufacturer of medical equipment intends to supply easily accessible, uniform product information to all development locations. Medela AG specializes in the development and sale of high-quality medical equipment and products for breastfeeding, the treatment of jaundice and medical suction technology. The Agile PLM solution optimizes the development flow due to improved data availability and the linking of items, parts lists, and documents. All product record information that arises during planning, design, production, sales and further development is clearly available. This makes it possible to connect the design phase with the subsequent product cycle.

Engineous Software Announces Partnership with Translation Technologies
Engineous Software, provider of integration, automation, and design optimization software and related services, announced its partnership with Translation Technologies. Through the agreement, Engineous will resell Translation Technologies' Acc-u-Trans CAD Component, providing interfaces to widely used CAD systems such as Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA-V5, and UG-NX. This partnership is significant since it provides access to these leading CAD platforms from within iSIGHT-FD/FIPER. The Acc-u-Trans CAD component allows iSIGHT-FD/FIPER users to modify CAD parameters, save the CAD data in formats compatible with CAE, and maintain links from the CAD geometry to the CAE geometry.

Excellent article, been using PTC since 1996. I like the wildfire versions 2 & 3.0 which I'm current on. However, I'm glad to see they have competition with Acad Inventor, Solid works & others. I'm glad to see PTC on their toes. Some of my contract employers were unhappy with them for a while. This made my job harder as a drafter since I only had PTC & the old 2D Acad as a skill set. Anyway I hope they keep up the good work.
