Moulton Niguel Water District fully operational with Field Mapplet/USA

Aliso Viejo, Calif. - November 15, 2007 - Spatial Wave (formerly the products division of DCSE) has worked closely with Moulton Niguel Water District to implement Field Mapplet/USA to provide full support of MNWD's Underground Service Alert (USA) workflow. The USA process is also known as "one-call" or "call before you dig" and is Field Mapplet's complete out of the box solution for this workflow. Field Mapplet is Spatial Wave's GIS enabled workflow management framework and can be configured to support any number of office/field workflows including the USA process.

Field Mapplet/USA receives MNWD's USA tickets from the Southern California Dig Alert center and utilizes spatially enabled rules, allocating tickets into queues and determining proximity to MNWD facilities. Moulton Niguel Water District's USA locator personnel connect to their queue to upload completed tickets and download new tickets. Locators view ticket information, enter actions and comments and are able to quickly zoom to the ticket location and view detailed street or facility maps. Ticket information is stored in a database for archival, query and reporting.

Field Mapplet/USA provides MNWD with a single application framework to manage USA tickets from origination to archive. "Field Mapplet is easy to use and saves me time; the mapping functionallity is great" said Rich Pike, lead locator for MNWD. "Field Mapplet is nice because it is easy to configure from the back end for the end users to address their specific needs", said Nolen King Systems Analyst with MNWD. Improvements in the efficiency of the USA workflow will support the demands that rapid land development is placing on the locators within the District.
