Updated “SDI 1.0” Extension for ArcGIS Now Available

ALEXANDRIA, VA, November 20, 2007 – The Carbon Project announces the availability of an update to CarbonArc PRO for ArcGIS 9.2, providing OGC® Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) 1.0 interoperability for ESRI’s ArcGIS 9.2 software. OGC SDI 1.0 is a selected suite of standards from the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc.

The latest version, CarbonArc PRO 1.2, provides enhanced security, SDI 1.0 feature services handling and an extension for Microsoft Virtual Earth.

“Customers continue to embrace SDI 1.0 interoperability and CarbonArc PRO will continue to wrap this suite of standards into tools that are easy for them to use,” said Jeff Harrison, President and CEO of The Carbon Project. “CarbonArc PRO leads a growing movement for standards-based commercial software that is already benefiting government agencies and commercial enterprises around the world.”

CarbonArc PRO has been selected by multiple government customers in recent months and has been featured at GEOINT 2007 and other venues. Examples of CarbonArc PRO in action are available on the CarbonCloud blog at http://carboncloud.blogspot.com.

“This update to CarbonArc PRO provides enhanced security and feature services handling, two key needs for our customers,” said Nuke Goldstein, CTO and COO of The Carbon Project. “By plugging into ArcGIS, CarbonArc PRO lets people use Virtual Earth and any SDI 1.0 web service as an integral part of the GIS, including WMS, WFS, WFS-T, WCS, Filter Encoding, Gazetteer, GML, GMLsf and Catalog Services (CS-W).”

CarbonArc PRO was developed with CarbonTools PRO, an extension to the Microsoft .NET Framework allows software developers to add advanced geospatial interoperability to any Microsoft Windows application, including SDI 1.0.
