IntelliOne Awarded Scientific American 50 for TrafficAid®

ATLANTA, GA USA – 12 December, 2007 – IntelliOne, the premier traffic information company that measures speed instantly on virtually all roadways, today announced recognition by the prestigious publication’s sixth annual Scientific American 50 – an award honoring 50 individuals, teams, companies and other organizations whose accomplishments in research, business or policy making during 2006- 2007demonstrate outstanding technological leadership.

“We are truly honored to have been recognized alongside industry leaders Apple for the iPhone and Google for Street View imagery,” said Ronald Herman, CEO of IntelliOne. “This award further validates the taxpayer-funded research grants provided to IntelliOne by the National Science Foundation,” Herman continued, “which partially funded the development of TrafficAid. TrafficAid, an always-on personal traffic advisor, uses the Company’s Live!Traffic information and mobile phone positions to help drivers steer clear of traffic, no matter what their destination. Residents in Toronto, Canada will be first to access IntelliOne’s TrafficAid® personal traffic advisor on both mobile phones and Web browsers through the recently announced relationship with Rogers Wireless.

According to a 2006 study by the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University, U.S. vehicular traffic congestion is to blame for 3.7 billion hours of travel delay and 2.3 billion gallons of wasted fuel for a total cost of more than $63 billion. With the average cost per gallon of fuel in the U.S. hovering above the $3 mark and expected to remain high, timing for this technical breakthrough is ideal. Another study released in March 2006 by Canada’s Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, showed the cost of traffic congestion to Canadians in urban areas is between $2.3 and $3.7 billion per year.

IntelliOne’s breakthrough, patented technology converts ordinary mobile phone network data into highly accurate traffic congestion information. As a result, drivers may be routed in real-time around traffic bottlenecks as they occur, managers can optimize their mobile workforce, and parents can monitor their children’s safety in real-time, all via services offered by their mobile operator and IntelliOne using the Internet and their existing mobile phones.
