Pitney Bowes MapInfo Location Intelligence Component Integrates with Business Objects Xcelsius 2008

TROY, N.Y.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—November 10, 2008— Pitney Bowes MapInfo, the leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, today announced that its Location Intelligence Component (LIC) now integrates with Xcelsius® 2008, a data visualization tool from Business Objects, a SAP company, that enables users to create detailed and insightful dashboards from any data source. Organizations using Xcelsius 2008 can now combine business intelligence reporting, query and analysis environments with Pitney Bowes MapInfos location-based data, visualization and interactive spatial analysis capabilities to make more insightful business decisions.

Adding location intelligence to our business intelligence dashboard empowers users with a more detailed, comprehensive view of location-based information, said Donald MacCormick, Chief Transformation Officer at Business Objects, a SAP company. By integrating the Pitney Bowes MapInfo LIC with Xcelsius, enterprises can add location analysis to enhance their existing visualization capabilities to make more-informed business assessments about new markets, customers and competition.

Pitney Bowes MapInfo and Business Objects enable organizations within the financial, insurance and public sector industries to achieve significant operational advantages when analyzing enterprise data. As policy-based information is stored and managed within dashboards, it is a natural extension to include location intelligence to help understand the relationships between customer, competitor and market information.

The Location Intelligence Component provides users with:

  • Geographic VisualizationAdding the LIC to business intelligence documents enables users to detect spatial patterns, trends and view relative performance metrics that are often impossible to see using only reports, charts and graphs.
  • Bi-Directional InteractionThe contents of the business intelligence report and geographic component on a map are synchronized while performing standard operations. This allows an analyst to quickly view the same information in the format most applicable to make decisions.
  • Spatial FilteringThe LIC's geographic filtering enables users to incorporate a spatial dimension when analyzing and modifying a report to show location-based relationships and clustering trends.
  • Enriched Business Intelligence DataDemographic, risk, weather and other location data can be used with the LIC to enrich and add value to the core business intelligence data in the users data warehouse.

Pitney Bowes MapInfo continues to develop interactive location intelligence solutions that improve the decision-making power of the major business intelligence platforms, said Jacqueline Gillooly, Managing Director of Business Development for Pitney Bowes MapInfo. The ability to add location intelligence analysis to Xcelsius enables users to extend their existing visualization capabilities to include detailed maps for better understanding the geographic relationships between enterprise and external data. The combined location and business intelligence analysis enables users to detect previously hidden patterns, risks and opportunities, helping improve operational efficiency and bottom-line results.
