Towns of Lowell, Wakefield, Lexington, Pembroke, and Harwich Turn to Web-based Infrastructure Coordination Planning

October 14, 2009 -- Envista Corporation, a provider of web-based software for infrastructure project coordination, today announced five Massachusetts municipalities are deploying Envista's map-driven application for infrastructure project coordination. These municipalities will use Envista’s Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to coordinate hundreds of roadway and utility construction and maintenance projects to be performed in the public right of way. Envista’s unique-to-the-market technology enables municipal departments and utility companies to optimize the construction planning process, reduce street cuts in recently paved roads, save on paving costs, and lessen disruption to neighborhoods and commuters.

Bay State Gas, which services 60 Massachusetts communities including Pembroke, is the first New England gas company to deploy Envista. A growing number of utilities and municipalities are expected to adopt Envista in the near term to take advantage of the project planning information prior to the 2010 construction season. Envista is currently being used in cities, counties, utilities, and regional planning organizations in the United States and Canada. Envista Corporation is venture backed by three New England-based Venture Capital firms  Egan Managed Capital (MA), Point Judith Capital (RI), and Borealis Ventures (NH).

“In these tough economic times, every tax dollar counts. Efficiency is the mandate in every size town or city,” states Envista CEO Rick Fiery. “It is painful for tax paying citizens to see newly paved roads excavated, or commuters in gridlock, due to the lack of coordination among towns and utilities. As a Massachusetts-based technology company, we are proud our solution can help state municipalities to become national leaders in leveraging taxpayer dollars, and make our roads last longer through better collaboration among municipal departments and outside utility companies.”
