Nation’s Capital Adopts Web-based Solution for Planning Efficient Infrastructure Work

November 03, 2009 --
Envista Corporation, a provider of web-based software for infrastructure project coordination, today announced the District of Columbia is deploying Envista's map-driven application. The District of Columbia will use the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application to coordinate hundreds of roadway and utility construction and maintenance projects to be performed in public right of way. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) manages 1,157 lane miles of roads in the nation’s capital.

According to Gabe Klein, Director of DDOT, “The District is committed to improving street conditions and traffic congestion, and those goals rely on better coordination of projects in the right of way. Envista technology helps improve coordination with utilities because it offers the real-time exchange of planning information, which benefits all participants. ”

Envista will enable coordination between the District’s various departments and utility companies to optimize the construction planning process, reduce street cuts in newly paved roads, and save on paving costs. More District area organizations are expected to adopt Envista in the near term to take advantage of the project planning information.
