CartêGraph Introduces Request Portal

November 18, 2009 -- Dubuque, Iowa—CartêGraph Systems, Inc., the leading provider of location-based infrastructure management solutions, is pleased to announce the immediate release of the Request Portal; a web-based tool that augments an existing work management system by allowing members of the community—including citizens, employees, and elected officials—to personally report issues, initiate service requests, and track the status and history of existing issues within a given area or jurisdiction.

“The Request Portal represents a municipal industry first;” said Jake Schneider, CartêGraph Product Marketing Manager, “a web-based application that integrates with other systems to enable the seamless movement of data from the citizen, to the office, to the field, and beyond.”

With the Request Portal, users create and use a unique and secure profile to report issues and initiate requests—such as unsafe walkways, potholes, and damaged traffic signs—and track them from submission through completion. Utilizing a specially-designed integration server, the Service Request Web Portal places Internet-submitted requests directly into a CartêGraph database where they are specially tagged to allow for reporting and filtering. When integrated with ESRI ArcGIS Server 9.3 or the Microsoft Bing Maps environment, the Request Portal gives users access to a dynamic, mapped view of all open requests and their accompanying details, including issue type, status, and location; date of creation; and special notes.

The Request Portal also helps an organization to gain efficiency; decreasing the time spent fielding issue-related phone calls, while giving community members a proactive role in the upkeep and management of assets and infrastructure.

“By minimizing the amount of time that is normally spent fielding issue-related phone calls and associated data entry, an organization gains the ability to reallocate its resources toward those priorities that often go unaddressed,” explains Schneider, “And with that, comes an immediate and positive impact on productivity and efficiency.”
