NEWTOWN, PA - January 26, 2011 - Opvantek, Inc. is pleased to announce the Third Annual Optimain User Conference, to be held in Baltimore, Maryland on April 6-7, 2011 at The Tremont Plaza Hotel and Grand Historic Venue.
Distribution Integrity Management continues to take center stage for our customers and the industry in general as the August 2, 2011 deadline for filing DIMP plans approaches”, said Opvantek President Andy Benedict. Additionally, gas operators continue to look for ways to leverage their investments in Geographic Information Systems and develop an integrated approach to strategic asset management. The Optimain Product Suite continues to grow and transform to meet the needs of our customers now and into the future.
Tony Sileo, Optimain Product Manager, notes that the 2010 implementation projects at Xcel Energy and Atmos Energy (Texas) have been opportunities to invest in the entire suite of Optimain modules, with input from two of the largest distribution operators in the United States. Both companies are focused on using Optimain to support risk-based resource allocation and strategic asset management. Specifically, we will be highlighting the following new or improved Optimain capabilities:

  • Damage Prevention – interfaces with One-Call data systems to provide a real-time graphic representation of third party damage risk
  • Risk Based Leak Survey – allows operators to approach leak survey compliance from a risk perspective and supports adjusting survey schedules to mitigate risk and enhance safety
  • Enhanced Planning – allows operators to model various risk mitigation strategies and allocate resources more effectively
  • Cathodic Protection System Management utilizing Optimain ACM (Asset & Compliance Management)
  • GIS Placement Suite – a standard web service and companion user interface that automatically places events (such as leaks or locate tickets) or assets (such as services or meters) in the GIS and associates them (with a confidence factor) with the proper gas facility

As our customer base expands and DIMP becomes a reality, we are seeing Optimain being applied to support additional business processes and to make use of new data sources. Much of what is being showcased at this event can be directly attributed to customer feedback from prior conferences. This conference will continue to be an ideal opportunity for our user community to share how Optimain is helping them not only comply with the new DIMP regulations, but also develop comprehensive information and technology strategies to meet the growing demands of the industry. ”To us, it’s all about continuous improvement and providing our customers with the best possible software and support to help them meet the business and regulatory challenges they face”, said Andy.
