Longmont, CO and Durham, NC, February 16, 2011— Addressing data in local government just got easier to create, validate and maintain thanks to enhancements to FARRAGUT AddressOne, an enterprise addressing system. FARRAGUT, a public sector software company, announced today that AddressOne 3.0 is now generally available.
Despite the focus on the address as a unifying point for almost everything a city or county does, many departments in a local government maintain their own separate addressing databases (using their own separate conventions). The result, across the enterprise, is often a fractured jumble of addressing databases—each riddled with errors and inconsistencies—that can cause failures to put accurate and timely addressing information into the right hands (emergency services, as just one example).

Major new features incorporated into AddressOne 3.0 include:
- A master street dictionary that manages and reserves street names and associated attributes (e.g., the dictionary automatically marks street names that have been reserved by developers, municipalities, etc.). The dictionary prevents redundant naming of streets—a hassle at best, a potential public safety hazard at worst.
- A user interface for managing the street centerline and their associated attributes (e.g., address ranges, jurisdictional boundaries, emergency response areas). The centerline is leveraged by various county departments (e.g., emergency services) to provide accurate location data.
- Support of ESRI’s ArcGIS Version 10
- AddressOne’s Seeker module (a robust browser-based interface for address consumers) has been completely re-written to support ESRI’s ArcGIS Server
- Extended capability to better manage and view historical changes to an address and to view the temporal changes in addresses
- Better integration facilities that allow addresses to be shared with other applications (e.g., building permits)
