VMS 300 is the upgraded version replacing VMS 200, originally introduced in 1998. This add-on module works in conjunction with MediaMapper, the industry leading application that organizes photographs, video, audio, and text within a digital map using GPS coordinates. VMS 300, like its predecessor, is the ideal solution for in-vehicle data collection over wide geographic areas and corridors such as roadways, railways, and shorelines. Once processed, users can fully customize and publish interactive maps to leading GIS platforms or the Internet.
"With VMS 300, Red Hen Systems delivers its global customer base the latest improvements in positioning technology, particularly accuracy and performance. We are proud that VMS 300 is a big contributor in building our nation's geospatial infrastructure," said Norton Ewart, vice president of sales and marketing at Red Hen Systems.
A major upgrade to VMS 300 is the B12 GPS engine from Thales Navigation. The B12 provides greater location accuracy as well as support for new international systems that provide real-time differential GPS correction. These systems, known by the acronym SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation Systems), include WAAS in the United States, MSAS in Asia, and EGSNOS in Europe. An additional benefit found in the VMS 300 is lower battery-power consumption.
Defense and intelligence customers involved with reconnaissance and surveillance work rely on video mapping for route planning, suspect tracking, and damage assessments. Other customers include transportation and utility companies, natural resources, and civil engineering organizations. In addition to multimedia mapping, Red Hen Systems offers a variety of services to help customers unleash the full power of spatial multimedia.
