Underground Utility (One-Call) Ticket Processing Software for ArcGIS 8.3: Bergmann Associates Announces the Release of Dig-Smart v.2.0

ROCHESTER, NY: Bergmann Associates announces version 2.0 for Dig-Smart; a GIS-based commercial software product designed to manage and process One-Call Tickets in the ArcGIS 8.3 environment.

Dig-Smart 2.0 is a GIS-based, commercial product that was designed to helps utility companies process and locate excavation requests received from State One-Call Centers - usually a Not-For-Profit agency committed to protecting buried or underground assets (i.e. Dig-Safely NY). Depending upon the utility size (geographic) and the population serviced, utility companies with underground assets can receive anywhere from a few thousand to a few hundred thousand One-Call tickets annually.

As an extension to ESRI's ArcGIS 8.3, Dig-Smart 2.0 can receive and process incoming work order requests (a.k.a. Tickets) directly into the ArcMap environment. These tickets are automatically processed by Dig-Smart's engine and a distance-based search is performed to determine if utilities are present near the requested site.

Using Dig-Smart has proven to save utility companies thousands of dollars each year investigating One-Call ticket requests. Because Dig-Smart was developed as an extension to ArcGIS, no proprietary software additions are required to process the tickets. Users can investigate, validate, email, fax, report and archive One-Call tickets right from their familiar GIS desktop application.

Due to the presence of underground or buried utilities, Dig-Smart can be applied to a wide variety of industries including Gas and Electric, Pipeline, Water, Sewer and Stormwater, Fiber, Cable and Telecom and Transportation for signalized intersections.

ESRI, ArcMap and ArcGIS are trademarks, registered trademarks or service marks of ESRI in the United States, the European Community or certain other jurisdictions.
