exactEarth Provides exactAIS® Data Services As a Public Service to Aid in Responding to Hurricane Isaac

Cambridge, ON - August 30, 2012 - In response to Hurricane Isaac’s impact on the U.S. Gulf Coast, exactEarth is providing its space-based vessel tracking data as a public service to aid U.S. government disaster response for the affected area. Data will be delivered both via the United States Coast Guard National Automatic Identification System (USCG NAIS) and the U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Safety and Security Information System (MSSIS) network.

Additionally, to help the U.S. Government maintain preparedness for other hurricanes that may hit during the month of September, data will be provided for an even larger area including the Eastern Seaboard, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, the approaches to the Panama Canal, and flood-prone parts of the navigable inland rivers. The data flowing into both the USCG and the MSSIS networks will be shared across agencies involved in preparedness and response efforts.

“This is a continuation of one of exactEarth's core missions - to help save lives in support of humanitarian efforts,” said Peter Mabson, President of exactEarth. “The next several days are critical for rescue efforts and the entire exactEarth team is proud to provide any assistance that we can.”
