Canadian Company Accuas Leads Commercial UAV Surveying Development

September 07, 2012 --  Accuas Unmanned Aerial Systems of Salmon Arm, British Columbia was featured on CHBC news story September 6, 2012 ‘Sky’s the Limit for Local Company’. Accuas is the world’s first commercial UAV surveying company, with locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Industries served include aggregates, environmental, geotechnical, waste management, open cast mining, road building and energy development.

With 5-10 cm resolution and horizontal RMS values of one pixel and vertical accuracy of <15 cm, Accuas offers ASPRS certified Class 1 1:1,000 mapping. Photogrammetrically derived orthomosaics and digital surface models (DSM/DTM), the Accuas system can be deployed to mapping sites quickly and generate reports focussing on change detection within days. Operating over 10 aircraft across Canada, Accuas is able to perform survey grade UAV acquisitions of up to 5km2 per flight in all regions of the country. With over 500 flight operations since the company’s founding by Scott McTavish in 2007, Accuas continues to grow and create new markets for high resolution requirements. Accuas offers competitively priced, safe, rapid mapping from small urban sites to large remote sites too costly for manned operations.
