GeoAnalytics® Implements Web-Based Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) Solution For Oakland County, Michigan
CHICAGO, IL – March 30, 2005– GeoAnalytics, Inc., a leading provider of geographic and land information systems (GIS/LIS) technology and management consulting, has completed implementation of a first-generation Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system based on Web and ESRI Geographic Information System (GIS) technology for Oakland County, Michigan.
The project involved deployment, customization, and integration of GeoAnalytics’ tracServe solution with the County’s existing ESRI ArcIMS and ArcSDE GIS environment, and CompassCom’s CompassLDE AVL Server solution. Key customization services included developing Web-based vehicle status reports using Crystal Reports Version 10 and making presentation enhancements to meet County website standards. “An important element of this AVL solution implementation is that it leverages the County’s existing enterprise RDBMS and GIS infrastructure already in place including Microsoft SQL Server and ESRI ArcIMS and ArcSDE technologies,” notes Scott Stocking, GeoAnalytics’ Project Manager and Analyst. “Coupled with CompassCom’s FDE Server technology, it provides a scalable architecture for mobile asset tracking that can be used by all County Departments.” GeoAnalytics is currently working with the County to identify and advance a number of second-generation AVL system enhancements. These enhancements will provide additional functionality as well as help the County extend AVL services to interested municipal partners.
