A bird's eye view of Melbourne, Australia with City2See and ER Mapper

Perth, Australia, 8 April 2005 -- The City2See web site ( www.city2see.com), powered by ER Mapper technology, is now offering high-resolution colour aerial photography of the Greater Melbourne metropolitan area. Users are able to freely search and view the image catalogue and print low-resolution images for free. Higher resolution digital and printed images, including laminated and framed products are available from $AUS14.90.

City2See let's people roam through Gigabytes of digital colour photography at the click of a mouse. A simple interface allows users to search on specific street addresses or to browse around streets, suburbs and neighbourhoods. The images cover most of the Melbourne Metropolitan area. Property boundaries can also be added to the images with the simple click of a button.

The City2See images have a pixel size of 15cm which means that houses, backyards and cars parked in the driveway can all be seen with a clarity better than the best commercial satellites.

The large multi-terabyte library of aerial photography is held in ER Mapper's ECW format. The City2See website licenses elements of the ER Mapper application engine to mosaic "areas of interest" on demand as well as giving the user the ability to lighten or darken the photography.

Clive Poole, ER Mapper's Asia Pacific Regional Manager said, "We most often deal with the professional mapping community. It is exciting to see a use of ER Mapper technology in an application that broadens the general appeal of image data to a wider cross section of the community."

John Payne, General Manager of Earthinsite said, "ER Mapper technology has allowed us to efficiently provide access to high-quality air photo's to small business as well as home users. Recent response by these types of users to promotional campaigns has been overwhelming"

About Earthinsite:
Earthinsite.com Pty Ltd is a Canberra company that specialises in making spatial data available at low cost to small business and the wider community. It uses innovative spatial information technology originally developed at the Australian National University.

City2See is the first of several data products developed by Earthinsite. Other products include an Australia-wide sea surface temperature product ( www.seasurface.com) derived from daily satellite data.

This is used by both recreational anglers and commercial fishing fleets. The system provides data every 6 hours on the current sea surface temperatures around Australia, a critical factor in identifying the likely location of significant fish populations.
