Historic Air Photos Aid Environmental Risk Reporting

GroundSure accesses Cities Revealed™ Historic aerial imagery archive via the web
May 2006: Cambridge – The GeoInformation® Group, publishers of Cities Revealed™ aerial photography ( www.citiesrevealed.com), recently licensed its Historic aerial imagery archive, captured between 1939-1954, to GroundSure, suppliers of environmental risk screening reports. Through the Internet, GroundSure has direct access to the Cities Revealed Historic imagery archive to provide fast, accurate and high-quality data and interpretation to residential and commercial property professionals.

CR Historic imagery provides unparalleled insight into the history of our urban and rural environments that may impact on modern day activities. The imagery provides an invaluable tool for planners and developers who wish to reveal potential sources of contamination and altered boundary lines. Understanding the history of a site prior to future development offers potential savings in both time and effort.

Managing Director of GroundSure, Paul Livett, commented, "The historical archive, provided by The GeoInformation Group, is the highest quality historical aerial image archive available on the market. At GroundSure, we aim to provide the most comprehensive historical data to our clients and these images are a significant enhancement to our environmental risk and planning reports."

CR Historic imagery coverage is available for the United Kingdom at 50cm resolution with additional urban centres at 10cm resolution or better. The images were captured by the R.A.F. and Luftwaffe from the 1930s onwards including UK wide post war surveys from 1946 to 1952.

The imagery is available through Cities Revealed Online™ found at www.citiesrevealed.com and can be accessed by members of the public and business users alike. The Online system offers the option to search the photography using a place name, postcode or national grid reference. Users can immediately view a watermarked image of their choice, purchase with a credit card, and download a digital aerial photograph directly to their desktop.

Users benefit from being able to see modern as well as historic aerial photography of their choice before they decide to buy and with the immediate download there is no delay in the delivery of the image.
