GIS in the Rockies Conference Issues a Call for Posters

Participants invited to illustrate the breadth of GIS technology and use

Denver, Colorado - May 17, 2006 - The Board of Directors for the 19th annual GIS in the Rockies Conference has issued a Call for Posters inviting professionals to share maps that illustrate how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have emerged from behind the scene to extreme.

The conference will be held September 13 – 15, 2006 at INVESCO Field at Mile High stadium in Denver, Colorado and will feature an array of user case studies, technical sessions and vendor presentations through a series of organized tracks.

Submitted posters will be displayed in the specially designated Poster Gallery area in the conference exhibit hall.

Map Poster Submission Guidelines

Only registered GIS in the Rockies attendees may exhibit poster in the Poster Gallery.

Poster Guidelines

All submitted posters should measure at least 24" x 36", and be no larger than 36" x 48". Posters should not be mounted on foam core or gator board backing.

To enter, please send a copy of the final poster along with a short narrative describing what is depicted, name and contact information (email and phone), and company or school. Students should also submit their grade level.

Posters submitted prior to July 17, 2006 will be listed in the on-site conference program.

Participants are encouraged to submit multiple posters, as long as they cover significantly different content. Group entries are available for multiple participants who wish to display their maps together.

Each group should self-appoint one leader to be responsible for:

  • Soliciting group membership from other Poster Gallery participants.
  • Organizing members' individual entries within the space allocated for the group.
Student Poster Competition

Posters submitted by students will be eligible for prizes awarded in the Student Poster Competition. Posters will be judged on cartographic design, information content/communication, technical skill, and innovation/originality.

Non-Commercial Entries

The spirit of the Poster Gallery showcases your GIS or survey accomplishments and demonstrates how you are using GIS software to map, interpret, manage, and improve our world. Entries may not be used as a promotional device for commercial purposes. Any entry that overtly markets a product or service will be disqualified.

Poster Gallery Location

Space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with no exceptions. Participants who wish to display their posters in proximity to others should register as a group.

At the Conference

Participants must check in at the GIS in the Rockies registration table inside INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium to register their posters. Presenters who do not check in before noon on Wednesday, September 13th will forfeit their display area to walk-in exhibitors.
