October 18, 2007 -- Longview, TX – Geographic Technologies Group, Inc. (GTG) announced today that the City of Portland, Maine has procured products from GTG’s LG GIS software suite. The City will be implementing LGfires, as well as adding additional licenses of LGdispatch Community Connect and LGcrimes, to better serve the City.
LGfires is a simple, easy-to-use GIS software product seamlessly integrated into Portland’s existing fire incident data. It offers the fire departments refined spatial tools required in today’s high-tech world. LGfires allows an end-user to generate plumes to predict hazardous material impact areas. The user can pick from a variety of atmospheric conditions, wind direction/speed and emission rates to create a hazard zone.
LGcommunity connect is a GIS software solution that allows both HTE Land and Public Safety users to integrate AVL with LG software. The software allows GPS enabled vehicles to be tracked via the GIS interface. It takes GPS data from vehicles and places a moving map symbol on the GIS map interface that corresponds to the vehicle’s location in the real world. Historical AVL information is maintained with the product.
James Kelt, Regional Manager for GTG, stated, “Portland, ME has been in the forefront of GIS initiatives for public safety mapping for some time now. The LG product line has taken this initiative to the next level by spatially enabling the City’s public safety databases. With the LG products, the City can now map, query, run reports and analyze their Computer Aided Dispatch, Crimes and Fires databases. LGdispatch, LGcrimes and LGmobile have proven themselves to help local government make the community safer for the public and first responders.”
