Avineon Begins GIS Data Migration Project with Telvent Miner & Miner's Fiber Manager

ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Avineon, Inc. ( http://www.avineon.com), a successful provider of IT, geospatial, engineering and program management services, announced today that it has recently begun a geographic information system (GIS) project to migrate ACEDL Smallworld data and OSP InSight data to Fiber Manager, a new extension of the recently released Telvent Miner & Miner (TM&M) ArcFM Solution. The project entails extraction and migration of all telecommunications-related data for a mid-sized East Coast utility company and is Avineon's first using TM&M's Fiber Manager.

"As we continue to build on our powerful ArcFM Solution suite, Fiber Manager adds important functionality to our enterprise GIS software," said a spokesperson with TM&M. "Fiber Manager is a powerful set of tools to connect, maintain and manage an organization's fiber infrastructure. We are pleased to be working with Avineon on this important project."

Avineon GIS specialists are currently migrating and extracting the utility company's cable, splice and device data. Once the data is migrated, Avineon will utilize manual and automated quality routines to ensure the migrated data is compatible with the Fiber Manager model. With Fiber Manager, Avineon can manage and maintain facility network data in an ERSI ArcGIS(R) environment. The verified data sets will then be delivered in an Oracle export format to be imported to the client's spatial database engine (SDE) environment.

"This project initiation exemplifies Avineon's commitment to innovation and quality," stated Gary Wilkison, Avineon's Senior Vice President of Commercial Systems. "As a Telvent Miner & Miner business partner, we are pleased to have the opportunity to participate in a project utilizing the new Fiber Manager extension."
