January 30, 2009 -- St. Charles, IL – In their goal to establish an easily maintainable internal land records mapping and workflow management system that provides accurate GIS analysis, Page County, Iowa, has selected The Sidwell Company to design, develop and build a contiguous, digital mapping system delivered as an ESRI® personal Geodatabase that replaces their existing tax parcel maps. The county will also receive four additional map layers—showing fire districts, school districts, voting precincts and urban revitalization areas—usable for further GIS analysis, planning and development. As Page County must be able to calculate and determine farmland assessments and generate resulting reports for all agricultural parcels in their jurisdiction, Sidwell will also generate a digitized soils survey data layer and install their FARMS™ overlay and reporting software for this purpose.

Sidwell’s industry-acclaimed ArcGIS®-compliant Parcel Builder™ software suite (Administrator™, MapEditor™, MapPlotter™ modules and the Genealogy Extension) is the county’s map maintenance solution of choice; the company will install and provide on-site customized training to county staff on this map maintenance productivity toolkit. Once it is completed, Sidwell will integrate Page County’s new geodatabase with their existing tax cycle and CAMA systems using two integration applications designed specifically for this purpose, the Parcel Builder–Administrator and the Parcel Builder–Bridge™. Page County Assessor Peggy Smith comments, “I am very excited about the GIS project that Sidwell will provide to Page County. The project will enable us to pull all the real estate information that is housed in the courthouse into one computer system for easier access and better service to the public. It will also help us maintain our assessments more efficiently as well as helping us maintain more accurate land records in the county.”
