PTV AG presents the latest map&guide professional version

Karlsruhe/Germany, — September 07, 2010 — Driving economically and environmentally friendly? Visitors to the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show 2010 can find out more about efficient driving in hall 24, stand # F13 where PTV will be presenting map&guide professional 2010, the first truck route planner that is connected to a freight exchange and includes a TÜV-certified emissions calculator.

Transport companies would like to have a software tool that assists them in planning efficient routes and trips not only in a time of crisis, but in general. In fact, too many empty runs, recurring waiting times and occasional delays may cost them dearly. Moreover, there is an increasing demand for CO2 certificates. All those who encounter these problems can now use map&guide professional, the transport route planning software designed to assist users in planning optimum routes. And it is accepted as a standard calculation tool throughout the industry. Thanks to a connection to Teleroute's freight exchange, trucks do not have to return empty. Dispatchers who still have space available for additional cargo, can access Teleroute data directly from the software. On Teleroute's platform they can choose from 200,000 freight and vehicle offers each day.

As a pioneer in emissions calculation, PTV has been providing a route-based emissions calculator that is integrated into its transport route planner since 2009. The built-in emissions reporting option allows users to provide a route-based CO2 emissions certificate for each transport. Since March 2010, the data has been based on the updated HBEFA 3.1 version (Handbook Emission Factors for Road Transport), the standard reference issued by the German Federal Environmental Agency. The data, which is based on detailed information provided by the national Environmental Agencies, can be used for transport planning throughout Europe. Users can then directly offset their CO2 emissions by means of climate certificates during the planning process.

map&guide professional 2010 includes the first emissions calculator that is certified by an independent body: TÜV Süd has awarded for the first time a label for a reliable software-based emissions calculation. Logistics providers can thus rely on results which have been certified and approved by an independent organisation.
