November 04, 2010 — (New Orleans, LA) - CompassData, Inc. is excited to announce the release of a new game changing resource for the Geospatial Profession at the 2010 GEOINT Symposium, November 1 - 4, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The RS Suite of Remotely Sensed Ground Control Points (RSGCP) from CompassData will allow for the collection of ground control points in areas of the world that were previously difficult, if not impossible, to map due to access or geopolitical influences. The RS Suite empowered by TerraSAR-X technology from Infoterra GmbH, makes mapping points in these sometimes dangerous and unreachable locations possible; and allows for two categories of accuracy: Precision RS-1 (up to one meter accuracy) and Precision RS-2 (up to three meters accuracy).
"As the Geospatial Industry continues to expand, the need for accurate ground control to enhance imagery and GIS is expanding to every corner of the world to produce maps with consistent accuracy. Terrestrial GCP collection in many areas has been difficult due to logistics, political restrictions and safety" says Brant Howard, Founder and CEO of CompassData. Inc.
Until now, Mr. Howard says, getting GCPs in areas like Africa, Asia, Middle East and the Korean peninsula was difficult and expensive. Using TerraSAR-X technology to generate RSGCPs for our RS Suite is truly a game changing solution for the Geospatial Professional who need accurate control world-wide.
Visit the CompassData website to see more information on RSGCPs. The RS data will be available soon in our online store to compliment our offering of over 15,000 GCPs available off the shelf today.
