June 14, 2011 -- Blom, the largest provider of geospatial services in Europe, has launched Blom3D™. This is the largest catalog of 3D city models in the world with more than 340 cities worldwide, covering more than 12,000 km2.
Blom3D™ models are created from an extensive collection of up-to-date, high resolution vertical and oblique images produced by Blom. Each model is created in four different levels of detail, from basic building blocks to fully photorealistic textured models, adding a powerful element of visual impact. Every building included in the Blom3D™ archive is a unique entity, allowing the ability to edit and integrate databases and events to the data.
All of the Blom3D™ models are available in standard industry formats and can also be accessed online via Blom’s geoserver platform BlomURBEX 3D™.
The creation of quality 3D models has been a natural progression for Blom. The addition of Blom3D™ to their product suite adds yet another spatial dimension for their clients. Applications for 3D are endless, but are currently used in security, gaming, urban planning, emergency planning and visualisation.
“We are very excited about the release of our new product line. Blom3D™ allows our users to create a wide range of high value 3D applications in fields as diverse as planning, tourism guides or gaming”, said Juan Mieza, product manager in Blom . “Our massive archive of models is continuously increasing and we plan to enable our clients to revolutionise the way that spatial data works for them.”
