January 23, 2012 -- GeoPlace has announced the full renewal of its ISO 9001:2008 certification for another three years following an external audit by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). LRQA has reconfirmed GeoPlace’s Quality Management System conformance to the ‘Provision to the public and private sectors of information management and consultancy services, relating to address location identification and street information’.
GeoPlace has held ISO 9001:2008 certification since 2009, and has successfully passed four external reviews since then, culminating in the visit above.
LRQA stated that ‘The system has continued to mature and has remained effective in supporting achievement of the client’s defined objectives and high levels of customer satisfaction, through a period of significant organisational change. The way in which this has been done will provide a good platform for future improvement’.
This renewal has been achieved during a challenging time, following the sale of Intelligent Addressing to GeoPlace, the merging of GeoPlace with Local Government Information House and the production of the National Address Gazetteer Database. The assessor noted that ‘The client has continued to adapt the management system for the significant changes which have occurred in their business and to apply it effectively to their activities. The focus has been on managing changes over most of 2011 and the way in which this has been done will provide a good platform for future improvement.’
Richard Mason, Managing Director commented ‘It is very gratifying to receive this renewal during a period of rapid change. It comes on the back of a recent successful six monthly ISO 27001 surveillance audit on our Information Security System. Our approach of organically developing and integrating the components of our management systems has been acknowledged as a very practical and effective way for a small organisation to manage its business to high professional standards’.
GeoPlace is a public sector limited liability partnership between the Local Government Association and Ordnance Survey. GeoPlace creates and maintains the National Address Gazetteer Database from which Ordnance Survey makes available the range of AddressBase® products.
