2d3 Sensing Releases Entire ‘Next-Gen PED’ Suite at GEOINT

Updates to video image processing, exploitation and dissemination (PED) software suite introduce new plug-in architecture, user interface, dissemination capabilities and much more.

Irvine, Calif. (October 1, 2012) -- 2d3 Incorporated (dba 2d3 Sensing), a wholly owned subsidiary of Oxford, UK based OMG plc and technology leader in the field of computer vision, image understanding, and full motion imagery exploitation, announced today the release of the latest versions of each software product in its product line, TacitView 3.1, Catalina 2.1 and Tungsten 3.1.

2d3 Sensing is raising the bar with state of the art of motion imagery software, standards compliance, and interoperability. The new software suite has been redesigned from the ground up to ensure maximum extensibility, interoperability, and standards compliance. These products define the next generation of processing, exploitation and dissemination for motion imagery.

Each product is specifically designed to work seamlessly across the entire suite, and also as standalone applications. End-users that require full functionality can procure a turn-key motion imagery PED solution today. Customers that have specific needs can purchase the tool that best fits those needs.

Forming the foundation are the incredibly robust and modular Tungsten libraries handling the ‘heavy lifting’ of the management and processing of the motion imagery and metadata. Tungsten 3.1 includes updates to the library sets for improved performance and efficiency, and also represents the first version of Tungsten that is completely ITAR-free, and export controlled under EAR99.

Building upon the foundation of Tungsten, Catalina 2.1 is the next iteration in the Catalina product line, and includes support for the TacitView 3.x architecture, as well as standalone features like audio ingestion and storage, chat ingest and storage, user defined tag ingest and storage, KML export, metadata optimization, optical character recognition and on-screen overlay redaction, and many other features which improve on the Catalina 2.0 baseline.

At the top of the pyramid is TacitView 3.1 exploitation software. TV3.1 represents the state of the art in motion imagery viewing, editing, annotation and exploitation. TV3.1 has been overhauled to allow for infinite expandability through a plug-in architecture, offering a framework which can support 3rd party algorithms and image processing software routines. The TV3.1 core has been upgraded to support the simultaneous playback and exploitation of as many HD feeds as your hardware can support. The TV3.1 graphical user interface has also been overhauled to present the user with the very latest in workflows, interactions and time-saving features, including the adoption of the Microsoft Fluent™ interface.

The framework exposes an array of processing methods during the ingest, capture, processing, exploitation, and dissemination of motion imagery and related metadata, applicable to live or archived feeds or clips. It is entirely standards-compliant and is tailored for easy interoperability with existing and legacy motion imagery systems through an open SOAP/REST API.

“Last year, we made a strategic decision to invest in a next-generation architecture.” said Jon Damush, President of 2d3 Sensing. “HD is becoming commonplace. The volume of motion imagery collected is continuing to expand. The need to process, exploit and disseminate that information is growing exponentially. The results of our investment and the hard work of every member of the 2d3 Sensing team is this software suite and underlying architecture. It has been designed and built to handle large volumes of SD and HD imagery and metadata, while simultaneously providing our users and the broader community a breadboard into which they can plug their processing capability and algorithms. We could not be prouder of this product suite, and cannot wait to share it with you at GEOINT.”

2d3 Sensing will be exhibiting at the US GIF’s GEOINT event, 9-11 October 2012, in Orlando, FL, where 2d3 Sensing will be demonstrating the new suite.
