July 12, 2004 -- Laser-Scan announced today that they have acquired Sysdeco. This event has been timed to coincide with the end of the first year’s profitable trading after the Management Buy out in July 2003. Previous to the acquisition, Sysdeco and Laser-Scan were close business partners working in the National Mapping Agency vertical markets using Laser-Scan’s Oracle based Radius Programme as a means of delivering interoperability.
The acquisition strengthens Laser-Scan’s presence in the National Mapping Agency market. Both Laser-Scan and Sysdeco have been operating in the advanced geospatial processing environment for over 25 years.
Mike Sanderson, Managing Director, Laser-Scan commented:
"I am delighted about this acquisition. Laser-Scan and Sysdeco have tried on two previous occasions to merge operations. Our open partnership approach has made this possible. We are looking forward to managing the merger process with two dedicated and passionate teams. Laser-Scan is a dynamic entity and there will be further activity of this nature."
Kristian Birkeland, Managing Director, Sysdeco, said:
"This has given the Sysdeco customer base a strategic way forward. We had started the process by migrating database technology to Oracle and the new entity is well placed to take this to the next stage."
Sysdeco is based in Norway, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and will remain in all 3 countries. Laser-Scan will retain its headquarters in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
