AccuWeather.com, a commercial weather service, announced that its 2005 Hurricane Center, is now available on its free web site at

Spot Image announces that its Australian Distributor, Raytheon Australia, will supply the New South Wales (NSW) Government with high-resolution satellite imagery covering the entire State. The imagery will be used by the NSW Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources for management of infrastructure, emergency response and natural resources.
PCI Geomatics® announced the creation of the PCI Geomatics Center of Excellence at Boston University's Center for Remote Sensing.
The Center of Excellence will focus on several themes, including natural resource management, place-based decision support and prototyping exercises for business. The new software by PCI Geomatics will also assist the University's goals in its continued research to improve the understanding of groundwater distributions in hot desert areas, such as Egypt.
Intergraph Corporation announced Empresas Publicas de Medellin E.S.P. (EEPPM), Colombia's multi-utility company, is upgrading its FRAMME-based geofacilities management system to Intergraph's G/Technology(TM), the next-generation enabling core of a Geospatial Resource Management (GRM) system. EEPPM manages and maintains five distribution networks - electric, gas, water, wastewater and telecommunications for 2.5 million customers throughout Colombia. The open architecture of G/Technology will enable EEPPM employees to easily leverage and share data, further streamlining day-to-day activities and processes for provisioning and maintaining its service delivery networks.
RGS President, Sir Neil Cossons, presents Ordnance Survey's Elaine Owen with the Geographical Award. Ordnance Survey has won a prestigious award from the Royal Geographical Society for its Free Maps for 11-year-olds initiative. The Society - which aims to advance geographical learning - conferred the Geographical Award "for providing outstanding non commercial support for school pupils learning geography".
NASA's Science Mission Directorate has selected 23 projects that will harness Earth science data to improve decision-making processes. Open Source Geospatial '05, an international conference addressing geospatial data technologies developed by or of relevance to the Open Source community, will be held June 16-18, 2005 in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA.
