SpatialDirect 2005 includes a new browser-based GUI application that allows site administrators to modify their SpatialDirect configurations after installation. SpatialDirect now also includes WFS Server and Internationalization (I18N) support.

Digital Map Products (DMP), a developer of web GIS software applications, announced the availability of LandVision(TM), a customer-designed, all-in-one collaboration solution for land acquisition that combines mapping, access to detailed site and property information, customization and project management workflow with an elegant, easy to use web-based interface.

The new free ad-based GPS navigation software for mobile phones, Emappz, uses the RaveGeo Location Platform from Idevio. Idevio delivers pan-European mapping, routing and geocoding on Java-enabled devices.

Thales Navigation, creators of Hertz NeverLost and global provider of Magellan Consumer GPS products, announced the new color, touch-screen Magellan RoadMate 800, a portable vehicle navigation system with integrated battery power, a music player and photo viewer. The Magellan RoadMate 800 is the ultimate multimedia travel partner delivering a three-dimensional "bird's-eye" map view and preloaded maps in its 20 GB hard drive for out-of-the-box, turn-by-turn, text- and voice-prompted directions using the latest NAVTEQ(R) data for all 50 United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and the US Virgin Islands. For an additional fee, drivers can also access maps for 27 European countries preloaded
on the large hard drive for traveling abroad.

ESRI announced the 2005 release of Community Coder 9.1, its fast, user-friendly geocoder. This customer profiling and data appending software assigns detailed information and location data to customer records, either individually or in batch mode. Companies, agencies, and organizations can use Community Coder to develop an accurate picture of current customers and prospects.

MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc., a provider of realtime 3D visual simulation software solutions, announced acceptance of a custom open database and imagery generator system by Northrop Grumman Corporation. The distributed simulation system will be used for engineering prototyping and evaluation, training, mission rehearsal and after action review at Northrop Grumman's Cyber Warfare Integration Network (CWIN) facility in San Diego, California.


In direct response to the rapid growth in Munsys sales in the west, Open Spatial Inc. has established a west coast operations center led by Colin Hobson.

Colin is a well known GIS professional with over 15 years of experience and an extensive background in GIS, CADD and database technology, software and customer applications. Hobson, who has previously taught GIS using ESRI products and more recently spent 8 years with Autodesk in the ISD (GIS) division will take a lead role in Munsys implementations and will actively support Open Spatial's customers and partners.
