Earthstar Geographics LLC and Spatial Mapping Ltd. (Prince George/Nanaimo, BC, Canada) announced a strategic partnership whereby Spatial Mapping will resell Earthstar's TerraColor simulated true color 15-meter digital earth imagery product via their ResMap.com website. The full resolution TerraColor imagery can be accessed free for on-line use or offline purchase on a per-tile basis.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Earthquake Center in Golden, Colo., announced the implementation of a new 24/7 operation center and seismic event processing system, HYDRA. When combined, the round-the-clock on-site personnel and new technology are expected to cut in half the amount of time required to report information about earthquakes around the globe.
The USGS will also debut a new
website and notification service for earthquake information at the end of January.
MDA's Geospatial Services announced their participation in the on-going development of the Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) for the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tajikistan (MoES). Funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) with additional assistance from the United Nations (UN), MDA will aid in the development of GIS and remote sensing techniques that will help Tajikistan authorities organize and conduct rehabilitation efforts to minimize the impact of natural disasters.

The number of women-owned businesses grew 20 percent between 1997 and 2002, twice the national average for all businesses, according to a new U.S. Census Bureau report. The nearly 6.5 million businesses generated more than $940 billion in revenue, up 15 percent from 1997.
Trimble announced results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2005, ended Dec. 30, 2005. Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2005 was $186.8 million, up approximately 15 percent from revenue of $162.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2004.
