MWH, a global provider of environmental, engineering and construction services, announced the acquisition of Liquid Earth, a consultancy firm based in Perth, Australia that provides hydrogeologic services to mining and industrial clients. The move enhances MWH's strategy to build a stronger presence in South Asia Pacific and increase the types of services offered to natural resource industry clients in that region.

Intrado Inc. a global provider of integrated data and telecommunications solutions, and Networks In Motion, Inc., the award-winning Wireless Navigation and LBS Company, announced that they have agreed to cooperatively market location-based services (LBS) solutions for wireless carriers and enterprise customers. Together, the companies will provide wireless carriers and enterprise customers with the enhanced functionality needed to successfully launch and manage location-based applications.

Earthstar Geographics LLC and Spatial Mapping Ltd. (Prince George/Nanaimo, BC, Canada) announced a strategic partnership whereby Spatial Mapping will resell Earthstar's TerraColor simulated true color 15-meter digital earth imagery product via their ResMap.com website. The full resolution TerraColor imagery can be accessed free for on-line use or offline purchase on a per-tile basis.


Intergraph Corporation will showcase its Geospatial Intelligence Exploitation Solutions at DGI 2006, the second annual European defense geospatial intelligence conference, Jan. 23-26 in London. As an event sponsor, Intergraph will play a key role in demonstrating the importance of open, interoperable geospatial intelligence solutions.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Earthquake Center in Golden, Colo., announced the implementation of a new 24/7 operation center and seismic event processing system, HYDRA. When combined, the round-the-clock on-site personnel and new technology are expected to cut in half the amount of time required to report information about earthquakes around the globe.

MDA's Geospatial Services announced their participation in the on-going development of the Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) for the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tajikistan (MoES). Funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) with additional assistance from the United Nations (UN), MDA will aid in the development of GIS and remote sensing techniques that will help Tajikistan authorities organize and conduct rehabilitation efforts to minimize the impact of natural disasters.

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd., a provider of information solutions, announced that it has signed a contract with Defence Research and Development Canada-Ottawa (DRDC-Ottawa) to deliver an information solution that extracts information about moving objects on the ground from radar satellite imagery

The number of women-owned businesses grew 20 percent between 1997 and 2002, twice the national average for all businesses, according to a new U.S. Census Bureau report. The nearly 6.5 million businesses generated more than $940 billion in revenue, up 15 percent from 1997.


Trimble announced results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2005, ended Dec. 30, 2005. Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2005 was $186.8 million, up approximately 15 percent from revenue of $162.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2004. Revenue for fiscal 2005 was $774.9 million, up approximately 16 percent from revenue of $668.8 million in fiscal 2004. Refer to the

    EarthMap Solutions now offers fruit and nut growers a cutting-edge solution for analyzing the health of individual trees or small clusters of vines within an orchard or vineyard. The Tree and Vine Grading product is now available through EarthMap Solutions' network of resellers.

    ESRI's newest versions of its software package for mobile geographic information system (GIS) and field-mapping applications, ArcPad 7 and ArcPad Application Builder 7, are now shipping. This release expands the capabilities of mobile GIS applications with new features that dramatically improve the productivity of working with spatial data in the field.

    RMTrack Issue Tracking Solutions, a developer of a fully web-based issue tracking application, announces the launch of an ASP model of its widely used application. This full feature version of RMTrack offers the same base program to users who prefer the advantages of a hosted service. Everything is included in one monthly fee; licensing, support, data storage, server time and backups. RMTrack will assist with configuration and setup, and legacy data can be imported at no additional cost.

    Miner & Miner, a Telvent company, is collaborating with Mississippi Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, in developing tools within ArcFM Redliner Extension to assist utilities with damage assessment and restoration planning after major storms.
