10 winners of the
Mobile Government Grant Program: Coastal Communities Edition. The grant program has been established to help
government agencies create models for the development and implementation of innovative GIS and GPS applications aimed at improving government processes. Beginning in December 2006, the grant winners' applications will be posted as public domain templates for
ArcPad on ESRI's
website. From there, the scripts can be accessed and freely downloaded.

The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), the first and only organization aimed at bringing together the many disciplines in the geospatial intelligence sector, announced it is seeking feedback from stakeholders in industry, academia and government on the draft curriculum guidelines and accreditation standards for the USGIF Geospatial Intelligence Certificate Program.
The U.S. Department of Labor has identified geospatial technologies as one of 12 "high-growth" industries. The proposed accreditation by the USGIF Academy for academic-based Geospatial Intelligence Certificate courses and programs will help guide this "high-growth" industry by ensuring the competencies of geospatial intelligence professionals entering the field and providing relevant continuing education opportunities for the workforce.
