New Products

Magellan is premiering new vehicle navigation models in the popular Magellan RoadMate line, including the new 4.7" Magellan RoadMate 1470. The Magellan RoadMate 1470 features the award-winning OneTouch interface AAA TourBook information and new premium navigation features, including highway signs and lane guidance. The new Magellan RoadMate series is now available at Amazon.com and most major retailers.

ArcPad 8,
ESRI's latest mobile geographic information system (GIS) software for field mapping and data collection is now available. ArcPad 8 has new usability and performance enhancements to increase productivity and help users manage their GIS projects more efficiently.

INRIX, provider of traffic information, announced immediate availability of the largest, most accurate and most advanced database of fully geo-coded traffic cameras available. INRIX is now the exclusive commercial licensor of traffic camera information from Vizzion, a leading developer of traffic camera data services. INRIX Connected Services now delivers real-time access to 10,000 traffic cameras in over 100 markets across nearly every major city in the US, Canada, UK, and New Zealand.

CygNet Software, provider of the enterprise operations platform for the oil and gas industry, announced CygNet 7.2, a major upgrade of CygNet's enterprise operations platform. With this release, CygNet is the first company to combine geographic information system (GIS) and asset management information with its operational SCADA module. This integration has been developed to ensure both systems maintain their individual system of record status, thus avoiding costly data replication processes. Release 7.2 also improves the methods of and performance for accessing and storing the massive amounts of data generated by oil and gas companies.

GGP Systems will be launching an important new range of software for emergency services at the upcoming BAPCO 2009 Conference and Exhibition (21 to 23 April 2009, Business Design Centre, London).

GGP Response is a suite of gazetteer management and geographic information software designed to improve frontline services and boost efficiency. Offered as part of an end-to-end solution with full implementation consultancy, training and support, GGP Response has been developed to underpin the transformation of the emergency services and other organizations involved in public safety and civil contingency response.

ThinkGeo announced the release of Map Suite Silverlight Edition 3.0 Beta 1, the newest entry in the Map Suite family of GIS developer controls for the Microsoft .NET Framework. Silverlight Edition is a full-featured GIS control designed to bring powerful spatial features to Microsoft Silverlight-based applications, where developers can take advantage of rich user interfaces and animation effects to give their applications unprecedented visual appeal.

SeaZone has announced the availability of detailed water depth data for seas around the UK. The company, a subsidiary of the UK Hydrographic Office, has spent 2 years capturing and processing hydrographic survey data to create a unique database of the underwater terrain.

Data on the water depth and seabed surface is essential to many marine activities, such as coastal and offshore engineering, shoreline protection, environment and ecology, fishing, civil security and emergency response planning. Uses include the creation of surface models, volumetric or rate of change calculations, and as input into hydrodynamic or environmental models often used for site selection, route definition and seabed mobility studies.

Orion Technology, a Division of Rolta Canada Limited, announced the latest release of its flagship product OnPoint 6.3. This release extends and adds exciting new web functionality to Rolta’s award winning Geospatial Fusion solution. OnPoint 6.3 continues the reputation of its predecessors as a supreme enterprise wide integrator of information content from multiple formats in disparate databases. It also marks the arrival of many exciting new capabilities that users have called for to better integrate their web-GIS needs within the context of diverse business systems throughout their enterprise. These capabilities include integration with Microsoft SharePoint,
eCommerce, improved Metadata support and support for Geoprocessing using ArcGIS Server.

MapMechanics, the UK-based specialist in computer-based mapping and geographic information systems, has become the first supplier in Europe to be able to offer scalable NAVTEQ vector digital street-level mapping of the People's Republic of China to businesses using mapping in logistics planning and management, marketing and GIS.

Detailed data for more than 1,800 Chinese towns and cities is included in the product, along with connecting major roads.

GeoSage announced the release of unique, near-global imagery mosaics on shaded relief and natural-color satellite imagery. Each mosaic map is a single large-sized, GIS-ready JPEG2000 file, and it can be obtained on DVDs or external hard drives.

Seamless 90m-resolution hillshading maps are derived from the popular USGS SRTM data set. More than 14,000 raw SRTM tiles are first stitched into a single large mosaic (image size 432,000 by 139,200 pixels) with elevation gaps filled, and then a series of beautiful shaded-relief maps are cartographically designed and produced under various color schemes and different hillshading settings.

Geographic Information Services, Inc. (GISi) announced the release of Data Viewer 1.1, incorporating additional functionality into the initial release of the product. Data Viewer, a Flex application built upon ArcGIS Server 9.3, is said to deliver an easy-to-use, rich Internet application centered on a tabbed view concept. Data Viewer offers organizations the opportunity to deploy one application with multiple tabs (or views) defined by individual departments or other business requirements.
