The
Korea Forum of the
Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is a Korean organization chartered to provide government, academic, research and industry organizations in Korea with opportunities to learn about and discuss issues related to interoperability of geographic information involving OGC standards. The Forum seeks to promote interoperability and create synergy between the various producers and users of geographic information and geomatics products and services in Korea. The Forum also provides a way for Korean organizations to coordinate their efforts to ensure that Korean requirements are addressed by the international standards of the OGC.


The
Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) and the
Open Standards Consortium for Real Estate (OSCRE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate in standards development and to enable and promote the use of Web based geospatial technologies in real estate commerce and real property management.


NAVTEQ provides Labor Day drivers with five ways to avoid traffic for their last minute summer trips. While the number of Labor Day drivers has trended slightly down over the past few years, the 12-month average for self-service regular gas* has also declined. AAA has published a fuel gauge report that shows gas prices are down an average of at least $1.00 since this time last year.

Vizrt Ltd. announces that Viz Curious Maps 9.1—the latest version of its branded mapping and geographic animation software for broadcast—will be introduced during the company’s invitation-only “Amsterdam Sessions,” from September 10th-15th in the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam. Version 9.1 represents a major upgrade to Curious Maps, which is considered the defacto standard for creating and animating electronic maps.

Tele Atlas announced it has appointed Aref Matin as chief technology officer. In this role, Matin is responsible for developing and managing the company’s technology and product strategy, strategic research and advanced engineering. Reporting to Tele Atlas CEO Bill Henry, Matin is also a member of Tele Atlas’ Executive Team and of TomTom’s Technology Board.


New Products


Emergency Notification provider,
Twenty First Century Communications (TFCC) delivers greater mapping functionality in a new release of its nationally renowned emergency notification solution, the Universal Communications System (UCS). New, robust features will enhance UCS's GIS-based (Geographic Information System) alerts to reach targeted areas in times of crisis.


Autodesk, Inc. has announced the acquisition of certain assets from BOSS International, Inc. to further expand its water resources analysis capabilities for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. StormNET for stormwater management analysis, RiverCAD for floodplain analysis, and WaterNET for water distribution analysis will be more closely integrated with Autodesk's model-based design solutions, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, to help engineers streamline workflows, reduce errors and boost productivity. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.


The newest release of
Freeance Mobile Basic allows users to make one click phone calls and emails from ArcGIS map features and database records. Now when phone numbers or email addresses are displayed in map feature attributes or linked database records Freeance Mobile Basic can easily and quickly make a standard BlackBerry call or email event when the end user clicks on the displayed field.


Spatial Wave, Incorporated has worked with
Underground Service Alert North (USA North) to implement Spatial Wave, Inc.’s Field Mapplet/Underground Service Alert (FM/USA). FM/USA provides full support USA North’s Tickets for utility locating throughout Central/Northern California and Nevada. The USA North process is also known as "one-call" or "call before you dig". Field Mapplet/USA is Spatial Wave, Inc.’s systematic management of the one call ticket workflow. It provides for rule based filtering of tickets which eliminates unnecessary locates and optimizes locator assignment.


Luciad, specialist in high performance visualization of situational awareness applications, announced it has released LuciadMap V9.0 with significant new functionality and increased performance, enabling developers to rapidly and effectively build and deploy high-end mission-critical systems.


LuciadMap is a suite of customizable software components that system integrators and original equipment manufacturers can easily integrate into their existing systems. The product has a global user base in aviation, security, and maritime sectors.


The Carbon Project announced the release of Gaia 3.4, a free platform designed to support Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) users and developers. The Gaia 3.4 platform release includes new SDI tools, an open API for software developers and support for OGC data and services, ESRI ArcGIS Server, Bing Maps and OpenStreetMap.
