Where 2.0 Conference, SimpleGeo and
deCarta announced a partnership that will allow location-based application developers to use deCarta's maps and search technologies to easily access and display geospatial data stored in the SimpleGeo Storage Engine. Customers will be able to define a point, a line or a complex area on a map, then retrieve data relevant to that area from SimpleGeo's rich data layers. Linked Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) from the companies will allow this capability to be deployed quickly and without a long development time.
Quova, the IP Geolocation data provider, announced a newly minted agreement with location services infrastructure company,
SimpleGeo. Quova will make its high-quality, IP Geolocation data available via the cloud-based SimpleGeo Marketplace. This agreement allows developers around the world to more easily and affordably access Quova's data to add geo-aware features to applications.
Spatial Energy announced they have entered into a new strategic partnership agreement with
3v Geomatics to exclusively offer 3v Geomatics data products, processing and analysis services globally to the energy sector.
3v Geomatics, through its comprehensive products and services for radar monitoring and evaluating terrain movement, helps oil and gas companies improve safety, continue production and maintain infrastructure integrity.
Geospatial Systems, Inc. (GSI), manufacturer of the TerraPix suite of modular airborne mapping and surveillance systems, announced that it has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement for the territory of the People's Republic of China with
Spring Scientific Co., Ltd. The exclusive distribution agreement includes GSI's standard MS-4100 multi-spectral camera products.
Tele Atlas, the world leader in high quality digital maps and dynamic content, and
UbiEst, an Italian provider of location solutions, announced an two-year agreement under which Tele Atlas will supply digital maps and location based content for UbiEst's complete portfolio of products and services for business and consumer markets.
Through the agreement UbiEst online maps, navigation tools, location-based and geo-marketing services, internet accessibility and mobile connections for businesses and consumers will leverage Tele Atlas maps and location content. The company's mapping services help customers in terms of location, routing and proximity of geographic assets, road navigation market and positioning benchmarking.
IDV Solutions maker of Visual Fusion enterprise mashup and data visualization software, announced a new partnership with
The Gartrell Group, a Portland, Oregon-based provider of GIS solutions and consulting.
The Gartrell Group will incorporate Visual Fusion into location intelligence solutions for public sector clients from all levels of government, and private sector clients in fields that include energy, utilities, banking, transportation, real estate, and health care. Visual Fusion is a platform for creating applications that integrate enterprise data, Web services, and unmanaged workgroup files into a single view. It enables multiple types of visualizations, including maps, timelines, heat maps, data grids and charts.
Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) announced it has been awarded a task order by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide technical services and information technology (IT) support to the EPA's Office of Environmental Information (OEI). The follow on task order has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total value of more than $26 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in the National Capital Region. The task order was awarded under EPA's Software Engineering and Specialized Scientific Support (SES3) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA).
The Carbon Project announced it will launch a new application using the Windows Azure Platform. The CarbonCloud Sync solution in combination with the Windows Azure platform helps enable customers to collaborate and share geospatial updates from many sources to many spatial databases using open standards. The Windows Azure platform, Microsoft's cloud services platform, provides The Carbon Project with the ability to build, manage, and deploy cloud based applications.
The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) announces the formation of an
Aviation Domain Working Group (DWG). The Aviation DWG will support the evaluation, advancement, operational use and validation of OGC standards within the Aviation domain. The Aviation DWG will contribute towards increasing global adoption of OGC standards and complementary standards and coordinate the technical input, when required, to support profiling or extending those standards to meet the requirements of the Aviation community.
US Department of Transportation (US DOT) and
National States Geographic Information Council (NISGIC) officially kicked-off a Strategic Planning effort for the Transportation for the Nation (TFTN) initiative. The goal of TFTN is to coordinate and develop nationally significant geospatial transportation data, with particular emphasis on road centerlines. This Strategic Planning effort will develop a strategic vision and goals for TFTN, and determine the best strategies for implementation.
National Museum of Taiwan History established a
WebGIS platform, Ancient Map Geographic Information System, to manage more than 2,000 ancient Taiwan maps, and integrate the research results with present base map. The ancient and present maps can be queried and viewed easily via Internet browser.

ESRI is developing a comprehensive highway data maintenance and linear referencing solution scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2010. Aimed at highway departments, state departments of transportation, and national roadway administrations, it will provide an integrated set of tools and functionality that allows agencies to easily maintain highway geometry, their associated multiple linear referencing systems, and complex roadway features.

ADN developers reconfigure Autodesk software for niche industries, providing customized products that streamline design efficiency, innovation and sustainability.
Sokkia Corporation announces the release of the new Series 50X total stations with increased measurement range and speed as well as an array of new features.
The new total station series extends measurement range to 4,000m (13,120ft.) with a single prism, and up to 5,000m (16,400ft.) with three prisms. This represents a 20 percent increase over previous models while reducing the measurement time by 40 percent.
