Geomatica OrthoEngine v10.3 Tutorial Orthorectifying ADS40/80 Data The Leica ADS40/80 airborne digital sensor is superior to any other large format digital airborne imaging technology available today. ADS40/80 sensor (currently in its third generation) is a line-scanning sensor that collects images in a 12,000 pixel wide swath. This camera can simultaneously collect panchromatic, color and color-infrared stereo imagery. All multispectral bands are collected simultaneously at the same high resolution, providing 5-band, co-registered and equal resolution imagery from data acquisition. 210

Aerial Photography Since the expansion of commercial aerial photography in the 1940s, aerial surveys have become an integral part of modern mapping technology, in large part replacing extensive surveys in the field. With current digital mapping capabilities, acquiring fast, accurate imagery for the development of maps is now not only essential, but cost-effective. Whether you need to update your mapping for a proposed highway system, a wetlands study, or tax assessment, you face the challenge of choosing the best technology and service for your investment. What are the best tools and methods of aerial photography, and how do you obtain low-cost, high-quality service? 61

Canada - The Columbia Basin Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program In 1962 BC Hydro was created by the Province in part to develop hydroelectric and water storage projects under the terms of the international Columbia River Treaty. Some impacts from the construction of dams in the Canadian portion of the Columbia River Basin became evident right away. For example, flooding and the creation of reservoirs had an immediate impact on the availability of suitable habitat for a variety of fish and wildlife species. Other impacts took years to become obvious. For example, decreased productivity in Kootenay Lake and the Arrow Lakes Reservoir occurred when nutrients were trapped upstream by dams. The change in the food web was a key factor in declining kokanee populations. 4

Getting Better Geocoding Results-Secrets of the Trade Geocoding is one of the best tricks you can do with GIS. What's not exciting about watching a file of sterile tabular address data suddenly take shape and illustrate themselves on a city map? But mention to a colleague that you're trying your hand at geocoding, and you'll likely see a quick flinch, maybe even a shudder. I've seen veteran ESRI Tech Support staff – people who laugh in the face of projection problems and license server administration – shy away from the topic. Why the drama? Like many subjects, the more you know about geocoding, the more success you'll experience with it. 1

Introduction--What Is GPS? The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space age navigational system that can pinpoint your position anywhere on the globe, usually within a few yards or meters. This amazing technology is available to everyone, everywhere, day and night, and best of all, at no cost for use of the navigational data. GPS uses a constellation of 24 satellites in precise orbits approximately 11,000 miles above the earth. The satellites transmit data via high frequency radio waves back to Earth and, by locking onto these signals, a GPS receiver can process this data to triangulate its precise location on the globe. 109

Map Projection Map projections are attempts to portray the surface of the earth or a portion of the earth on a flat surface. Some distortions of conformality, distance, direction, scale, and area always result from this process. Some projections minimize distortions in some of these properties at the expense of maximizing errors in others 92
