Finding latitude/longitude from projected data Report this article as Inappropriate to us !!!Login to Reply

Hi,

I am a casual user that uses GIS frequently but at a fairly low level.

My question:  I am working from a map that is projected in state plane coordinates.  I want to find the latitude/longitude of points on this map for later use in a GPS.

How do I go about doing this??????

My current solution is to create a shapefile with a geographic coordinate system that has the same datum as the projected map.  Then I simply digitize the points I need in this shapefile and then use "calculate geometry" for latitude/longitude values.

Will this work accurately?????

THANKS !
