Overlaying raster on vector Report this article as Inappropriate to us !!!Login to Reply

Hi All - hoping I can ask what is probably a basic question  - I need to overlay a .vct file onto different raster images in IDRISI - but it doesn't display  ... is this because you can't overlay vector files with raster files (or vice versa) and I need to convert the .vct to raster? If so - how do I do this (I had problems with the RATSERVECTOR function in Idrisi).  Any help much appreciated (I am quite new at this). Thanks!

Typically you can overlay vector on raster but not raster on vector.

Vector is any of points, lines, or polygons.  Raster is of course pixels.

I'm not familiar with IDRISI but in ArcMap you can overlay vector on raster.  It appears you can do the same with IDRISI.

The country boundaries are vector; the underlying image is raster.

Maybe you need to reproject your vector data to match the raster data?
