ArcGIS 9.2 new Report this article as Inappropriate to us !!!Login to Reply

I am trying to take a geo referenced layer and convert it to a kml file so that it can be placed into Google Earth. However, when I convert the file to kml it is losing the geo-referencing and when I place it into google earth it goes into the middle of the ocean. I can get the file to go into google earth in the correct place using a .img file, but for some reason I can't get it to work with a kml. Any suggestions?

I've had excellent results from a KML conversion script for use within an ArcMap session written by Kevin Martin, City of Portland;  it's available from the ESRI scripting site.

It was a simple download, automated install and registry connection, and does great work for me.  I use ArcMap 9.2, Editor level, and it has correctly georeferenced every layer I have tried to convert.

 Good luck.
