US GIS Market Opportunities Report this article as Inappropriate to us !!!Login to Reply

I am trying to research the GIS Market Opportunities in the US and Midwest. ESRI has no real information, other than types of markets. I need to see information on types of markets, revenues, growth potential, tools (software) needed, etc.

We currently use ESRI products such as ArcView 3.x and ArcGIS 8.x but would like to expand our services outside our organization. There are infinite uses, but what is realistic in terms of service offerings and who would want to purchase? Thank you for your information.

In my opinion the major market for GIS no throughout the US will be in Homeland Security/Emergency Prepardness. Emergency Respose systems are being designed and implimented at the village, town, city and state levels and all use GIS as a major part of the system.

I agree with the Irishman, Homeland Security/Emergency Preparedness market has huge potential. However, it has attracted the attention of most major players so it will be a competitive vertical. Many of the potential clients are government agencies who require suppliers to demonstrate a history of successfully applying sophisticated project management methodologies, advanced quality assurance procedures and complex systems integration. Their buy decision many have more to do with who the supplier is than what the solution offers.

There are other markets which are attractive and better suited to smaller suppliers. They include; tourism, real estate, retail and community development.
