Bowling Green Municipal Utilities seeks applicants for the position of GIS Specialist in the Water-Sewer Engineering Department through 4:30 P.M. on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. This position will assist the GIS Coordinator by providing multi-level support of the Geographic Information System using AutoCad Map and MapGuide.
The following essential duties will be performed:
assist with utility wide projects, including GIS data entry, GIS database development, cartography and map production
collect and edit GIS data for the infrastructure of the utility, perform data analysis
enter data related to the Water and Sewer work order system
develop and update databases
maintain accurate records and prepare reports
assist with computer aided drafting functions as necessary
respond to requests from water-sewer crews, contractors, and the public regarding locations of water and sewer infrastructure using the GIS system
assist the Project Designers and Engineering Superintendent to develop field and/or office engineering data to support projects

Two (2) years college coursework or technical school training in GIS is required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred in one of the following: Geographic Information Systems, Geography, City and Regional Planning, Computer Science or Engineering. Three (3) years of work experience with GIS is preferred, primarily using Autodesk AutoCad/Autodesk Mapguide and/or ESRI products. Knowledge of principles of GIS including its uses, applications and programming is required. Warren County residency is required within 6 months of employment.
