How to create streets? Report this article as Inappropriate to us !!!Login to Reply

Hello,

I have two shapefiles: one with the blocks (polygons) of a city, and another with the names of the streets (points).

Is there any way to create the streets (polylines) with the data that I have?

regards.
Hugo.

What form are your blocks in? Are they City Blocks with Right of way gaps in between? Are they individual Parcel Polys?

Also , Are the points located geographically within the Right of way area on the appropriate street?

If there are R-O-W gaps between the blocks and the points are in the appropriate R-O-W corridor; and if you have a underlying polygon encompassing the entire Corporate area, it may be fairly easy to create them.

Please let me know, and maybe I can help you

Steve

Hello Steve

Each block is a polygon, there are no parcels just the entire block, and yes, the streets are represented by the gaps between the blocks.

About the points, the points are located where the gaps are (where the streets are supposed to be located, if the lines of the streets were there, most of the lines would intersect the point, others don't because the points are not always on the middle of the gap, some are, otrers don't - just to make it clear, there are no lines, just points -).

So, yes, there are R-O-W gaps between the blocks and the points are in the appropriate R-O-W corridor, and I do have the polygon limiting the whole area.

Your help will be appreciated, thanks.

Regards,

Hugo Hiram
