Major point (IMO) in favor of Oracle Spatial is that most (all ?) of the commercial GIS tools support Oracle Spatial. This means that customers can choose and combine the tools that suit them best for the task at hand. Note that ArcSDE can also use Oracle Spatial together with its own binary storage format.
Also Oracle runs on most platforms (Unix, Linux, W2K, ...).
