One aspect missing from this article is that no where does it mention how expensive it was to collect this vast amount of information took and how it will be maintained over time. The reality is that this solution is nothing special short of way to organize and access information. It’s a great concept, however not very practical from a data maintenance and management perspective. ANY first responder will tell you that bad or out dated information can be more disastrous than having no information. I know that the many of the schools where I live have been under constant expansion, re-configuration, etc. My question is how often is the information updated, who maintains the data, how easy is it too maintain, and more importantly how much does this cost the State, local govt., or schools to maintain. From my perspective someone bought big time into the Hollywood special effects concept. Looks good in the movies, may help short term, but in reality is not very practical to maintain and down the road may even put kids more at risk.
