OptiTrack to Showcase New Camera Series at SIGGRAPH 2012

Precision Motion Capture and Tracking Technology for Full-Scale Productions; Live Demos and Presentations from Autodesk, Oblong Industries, Fabric Engine and Halon Entertainment in Booth #610

CORVALLIS, Ore.,  July 30, 2012, At SIGGRAPH 2012,  OptiTrack will launch a brand new series of motion capture cameras specifically tailored to large-volume, full-scale productions. Mocap demos will be conducted in booth #610, and will also include a look at the Flex 13, which debuted in March 2012 and is OptiTrack’s solution for high precision, small and medium-volume tracking applications. Autodesk, Halon Entertainment, Fabric Engine and Oblong Industries will join OptiTrack on stage to demonstrate how OptiTrack virtual and motion capture cameras can be painlessly integrated into both established and custom-made pipelines.

LA-based previs house Halon Entertainment will demonstrate their actor and virtual camera previsualization pipeline, which they’ve used on recent projects such as “Prometheus,” “Snow White and the Huntsman,” “Battleship,” and “John Carter.” The team from Fabric Engine will be showing their Creation Platform tool, which enables real-time, high-quality, high-frame rate character rendering for standalone custom applications or integration into industry-standard apps like Autodesk Maya®.

Autodesk will show how real-time body and virtual camera mocap are used in the industry’s most popular virtual production pipelines. The simplicity of this process will be observed through a real-time feed that streams directly to Autodesk’s booth.

Oblong Industries will feature a custom integration of OptiTrack Flex 13 cameras into Oblong’s spatial operating environment, g-speak – best known as the gestural interface platform that enabled the finger tracking interactions in “Minority Report.”

“Our g-speak platform lets multiple users interact directly with multiple screens using gestures to view and navigate through dense data. To achieve the most precise interaction and response to what a person's hand is doing, we use high fidelity motion capture cameras,” said Kwin Kramer, CEO of Oblong Industries. “We’ve integrated OptiTrack cameras with our platform, and are excited to be in the OptiTrack booth at this year's SIGGRAPH, giving g-speak demonstrations and offering attendees hands-on experience with our system.”
