Route Optimization Software Innovator RouteSmart Technologies to Unveil New Mobile AMR Functionality at the Utility Industry's Leading Metering Event of the Year, DistribuTECH 2013

January 23, 2013 -- COLUMBIA, Md. – RouteSmart Technologies will present the company's powerful new Mobile Automated Meter Reading (AMR) software functionality at the Esri Theatre on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 12 to 12:30 PM as part of the DistribuTECH® Conference and Exhibition taking place January 29th through the 31st.

DistribuTECH welcomed a record-breaking 8,600 attendees from 48 countries in 2012, and they are expecting to attract an equally impressive number this year. As one of the utility industry's leading conferences and expositions, DistribuTECH covers automation and control systems, energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy integration, advanced metering, T&D system operation and reliability, power delivery equipment, and water utility technology.

Introducing RouteSmart's Mobile AMR Routing Solution: Significantly Decreasing Mileage and Fully Leveraging Your AMR Investment
RouteSmart is incorporating new capabilities in their RouteSmart for ArcGIS 2013 Mobile AMR Routing Solution. The software optimizes routes for utility companies reading meters via mobile AMR, enabling them to gather data in the field faster than ever, leveraging meter read range information with two robust solvers:

This enhanced version will help utilities significantly boost their productivity by decreasing the number of daily routes, the number of days to read the meter data, and the number of streets driven. In fact, utilities can realize a potential 19-56% reduction in mileage by modeling routes with meter read ranges of 250-1,000 feet. Visitors to DistribuTECH can learn more about these new capabilities by attending RouteSmart's presentation and also visiting RouteSmart at the exhibition hall at booth #1944.

Con Edison Leads RouteSmart's Mobile AMR Pilot Program
Consolidated Edison Company of New York (Con Edison) is testing the new AMR routing technology in Q1 and Q2 2013, and RouteSmart will be releasing RouteSmart for ArcGIS 2013 to its clients, soon after in Q2-Q3 2013.

Con Edison has supplied the energy that powers the bulk of New York City and many areas beyond it for over 180 years. Con Edison continues to manage one of the world's largest and most complex energy delivery systems, with highly consistent reliability. The company also owns and operates the world's largest district steam system, providing steam service throughout most of Manhattan.

The utility recently completed an AMR conversion covering a large region in its territory. RouteSmart will use the AMR routing solvers to model routes to create balanced daily routes, maximize asset utilization (personnel, vehicles, and AMR mobile collection equipment), and minimize total route time and miles driven. The Mobile AMR Routing Solution will be released to RouteSmart customers in late Q2 2013. It will also include updated GIS information by GIS expert Esri®, a longtime and valued RouteSmart partner. RouteSmart for ArcGIS is compatible with ArcGIS 10.1. As Esri releases new versions and service packs, RouteSmart for ArcGIS will be continually updated.

CPS Energy Taps RouteSmart for Itron to Boost Productivity
In addition to the AMR capabilities, RouteSmart will also be showcasing their RouteSmart for Itron solution, developed jointly by RouteSmart and Itron, and released in 2010. It features an on-demand, automated routing interface that can be easily accessed through the Itron Field Collection System (FCS). The software helps utilities manage daily routing improvements through the familiar FCS interface, allowing them to insert new meters into existing reading routes without disturbing the original route sequence, optimize the sequence of routes that have become inefficient over time, consolidate smaller routes into a single route, and divide one or more routes into smaller routes.

CPS Energy, the nation's largest municipally owned energy utility, has already begun working with this new technology. CPS Energy provides natural gas service to 325,000 customers and electric service to over 717,000 customers in and around the seventh largest city in the nation, San Antonio, TX.
