TrafficLand Helps Silicon Valley Expand Video Access for Commuters, Media and Public Agencies

TrafficLand Web hosting and video distribution services used to meet growing demand for real-time video from 420 road-side cameras more reliably

Fairfax, Virginia, July 1, 2013 -- TrafficLand®, the largest authorized aggregator of live traffic video in the U.S., announced today that its TLX™ video aggregation technology has been installed at the Santa Clara County Roads Department (SCCRD) Traffic Management Center in Silicon Valley.  The TrafficLand TLX technology allows the company to host SCCRD’s website for commuters and expand access to real-time video from its road-side camera network to multiple stakeholders in the region, including broadcasters and public safety agencies.

TrafficLand’s technology and fortified network allow SCCRD to distribute streaming video to media and provide commuters and others with fast-updating camera images (one frame every 2 seconds.)

Under the agreement with SCCRD, TrafficLand is able to offer the traffic camera video in the services it markets to public safety, media and other commercial clients, as well as provide it for free on its public website www.trafficland.com.

“We are pleased to add Santa Clara County traffic cameras to our growing network footprint across California,” said Lawrence Nelson, CEO of TrafficLand.   “Providing real-time video from these cameras will be a valuable resource for commuters in the Bay Area, and for the first time, will be available to media for use in their traffic and weather reporting.”

"This project is a great example of Public Private Partnership, allowing us to share video images from our intersection traffic cameras, while relieving the taxpayer of the need to pay for additional video hosting infrastructure and maintenance,” said Dan Collen, Deputy Director for County of Santa Clara, Roads and Airports Department, Infrastructure Development Division.  “The images complement and can be used to confirm the congestion map we also have on our website."
