Esri Canada’s executive praised at 2014 Technology Leadership Awards

Toronto - Jun 12, 2014 -- Esri Canada, a provider of geographic information system (GIS) solutions for more than 30 years is proud to announce that Vice President and General Manager, John Kitchen was recognized by TechConnex with the 2014 Community Builder Award.  The Award was presented to John on May 29th at a gala dinner which celebrated nominees from 15 Greater Toronto Area (GTA) companies along with two individuals for technology industry leadership.

“I am delighted to accept this award and to be acknowledged among these leading technology companies,” said John Kitchen, Vice President and General Manager, Esri Canada. “I have been involved with TechConnex and its predecessor, York Technology Alliance. I have gained tremendous professional satisfaction sharing my knowledge and experience with the organization and its members.  Likewise, I have gained great insight into other prominent organizations which has allowed me to contribute to our company’s development and strategic direction.”

The TechConnex Community Builder Award recognizes a member who has championed the role of the association, served in a leadership position with exemplary skill and dedication and demonstrated a passion for TechConnex and its community.  The individual shows commitment to creating valuable programs, building networks and evangelizing on behalf of organization. They have delivered exemplary service to the association and the tech community through continually providing direction to the alliance to help achieve new levels of service for its members.

“Eight years on the board of directors, three years on the executive committee, and immeasurable hours on the phone.  Not to mention the time spent scouring the Web site to make sure all messaging was correct. We owe you [John Kitchen], and Esri Canada, a huge thank you,” announced Patrick Shaw, Executive Director, TechConnex at the award presentation.

Esri Canada was also a finalist for the TechConnex Tech Company of the Year Award.  The award recognizes an organization which has demonstrated business leadership and excellence in innovation and a commitment to the knowledge-based sector in the GTA and, in many cases, throughout Canada. Consideration in this category requires increasing profitability, community involvement, thought leadership and demonstration of sound business fundamentals. Nearly 12,000 small and mid-sized tech companies in the greater Toronto Area were nominated which were then narrowed down to three finalists, including Esri Canada.
